The Roberts Family
We decided to start the Rise program for several reasons. We saw the reasons for programs that helped people with finances and improved lives. We wanted to join because we were and are in significant debt and have terrible spending habits. We hoped we would learn skills to help us escape our current situation.
Once we started the program, we realized there was more to learn than just financial matters. We learned that a hard part of the process was setting goals. With good goals, we can set expectations and a budget to help us manage our spending. The budget also helps us identify places where we need to change our current habits. The budget process was eye-opening, as we saw where our money was being spent. We learned a lot about setting goals and making them smart. We also received a lot of engagement from Patricia Deck and our facilitator, Deb Glazner.
The actual Rise class taught us ways to improve, and we are still working on the process. Realizing that the class alone wouldn’t make the changes was an important step. The classes to follow in maintenance provided us with opportunities to learn even more about our lives. We learned parenting skills, setting year-long plans, and envisioning the future. The maintenance program is where the real work starts to hit the ground.
Sarah, Violet, and I have benefited from the program by learning new and exciting ways to be a family. We have also made some great new friends to help us in life. This has been a great investment of our time and energy. We are grateful for all the supporters of the Rise program here at the Dream Center.
