The Epps Family
Hi we are the Epps family! We are a family of five: Elijah Epps (25), Alauren Epps (22), Ezekiel Epps (3), Apollo Epps (2), and Novalee Epps (1). We have been living in Missouri for about five years and before that we were living in Wichita, Kansas. We have been attending the Dream Center for almost two years. We reached out to the Dream Center shortly after Elijah got sick and ended up being diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PPMS) leaving him disabled and out of work.
We started by sitting down with Patricia and going over our story and what we were struggling with, but also with what dreams and aspirations we had for us individually and as a family! We started by doing the financial class offered for budgeting, since we were a family of five living off one income, financials was something we knew we needed help with. It taught us how to build a budget and keep it minimizing spending and making smart money goals.
Once they had another class for RISE we joined that Cohort class and did the 16 Weeks course. Which pretty much helped in multiple ways from mental wellness to communication to financial stability to goal setting, etc. We continued taking the courses after RISE because we felt it was making a big impact on who we were individually and who we were as a family. I am proud to say we have definitely gained more financial stability, we have been learning new and more in depth parenting techniques and skills, we’ve been able to free up some of our financial debt, etc.
Our goals is to eventually own a home of our own and be even more financially stable once Elijah gets accepted for disability. We would like to continue working with and eventually the goals is to be able to give back in the way we have received help and success through the Dream Center and all the amazing people there! The Dream Center has been a blessing to us through these years and we are very grateful for all the help and support they have been able to give us.
